project title
NEW COPEN YORK HAGEN

project description
The maps of central New York and Copenhagen are surprisingly identical in shape and structure and therefore it makes sense for us to make a Copenhagen walk in the centre of New York. If we look at the two cities as innumerable movable layers that can be imposed above or below other layers, a tour of Copenhagen in New York makes an interesting case for investigation. Therefore, the layering of the two cities makes perfect for an investigation in the field of placement and re(dis)placement.

Each participant is handed a map of Copenhagen with the map of New York superimposed onto it. On each map a monument/tourist attraction (in Copenhagen) is marked with a bullet and each participant is handed a postcard depicting the tourist attraction (clue).

Each participant maps the route as if being in Copenhagen as well as writing postcard describing how Copenhagen looks and feels like. Each participant is to send the postcard ‘home’.

On arrival to the tourist attraction the participants will find a Danish souvenir that is theirs to keep and/or give away.
