I feel that most people or artist people I meet have no idea what it takes to become an artist who is noticed. This includes myself. I went to art schools...even two universities and no one discussed what it actually takes to become noticed. Along the way I read about Picasso and several other artist and I figured out that it takes a lot of work. Non stop work. You must take yourself seriouly even if everyone around you does not.
Yesterday I read the life of de Kooning...what a great book. Maybe somethings are over stated and maybe de Kooning is not the greatest for some people, but he really worked at being an artist.
I am so thankful to the writer for making the book readable. I tried to read several books on Picasso and found them not on the same level that I am on. I felt like I was drinking water when I was reading de kooning.
Thanks for letting me write my first blog.

"The University of Michigan School of Art & Design presents a school wide group
exhibition using ebay as venue. Undergraduate, graduate students and faculty submitted
proposals for artworks in which the entire ebay listing (item for sale, descriptive text
and placement within chosen categories) is the work. Works presented in the show exploit,
redefine or underscore ebay’s potential in the exchange of ideas, objects and commerce.
The artists chosen for the show received instructions for the day and time to post their
listing in a 7-day online auction. The first of the 25 auctions begins on December 1st
2005 and the last auction ends on January 1st, 2006. This 31-day event of staggered
auctions can be viewed simultaneously here at eBay art show press page

Do you have an Eye for Art?
I would like to invite you to participate in an exciting research conducted by MIT and ArtForecast.
The research examines the myth of the term “Eye for Art” by presenting a set of artworks images to various participants.
Participants are challenged to choose the most promising artwork out of a given set and to try to predict which artwork will be the most valuable in one year.
