HDTS and Strange Animal
Strange Animal and High Desert Test Sites opened October 15 at LACE and Joshua Tree area, respectively.
Strange Animal is a satellite project of the HDTS venue where past and present artists are required to collaborate with each other. Having this event is to make the HDTS "not as much "place" specific as much as it is "social event" specific."
HDTS. organized by Andrea Zittel, is having a tour of the Joshua Tree area this weekend (Oct 23/24) including the future site of a Super Wal-Mart. Paying attention to places before they are gone and calling public attention to the sites, is a playful protest of unwanted construction as well as a shock to habituation. Calling attention to the trees before they are gone is a proactive stance that can have a positive impact for the environment.
