A new project by Jessica Thompson in collaboration with Todd Irvine

Natural Light Window, Toronto  (506 Adelaide W at Portland)

Tree identification involves the systematic inventory of all trees within a one block area bordered by Adelaide, Portland, King and Bathurst Streets.  The project consists of identification tags, a map and an audio soundtrack.
 
On October 15 observers are be invited to join the artists in labeling all trees within the one block area.  Maps will be available at the Natural Light window during the performance and continuing to October 31.  

The audio soundtrack will be recorded by Irvine and Thompson during the performance and will be available as a free CD following the event. To request a soundtrack, please contact Jessica.  The CDs will be hand delivered in the downtown area and mailed to areas beyond.  A limited number of CDs will be available at the space.

Jessica Thompson’s studio practice consists of video, video installations and audio pieces that explore parallels between physical location, psychological space, game playing and public performance.   Her work has been shown in Toronto, Chicago and New York.  She would like to acknowledge the generous support of the Ontario

Todd Irvine is a founding member of Spacing Magazine and the Toronto Psychogeography Society and sits on The Toronto Public Space Committee's Board of Directors.  He is an arborist and is presently completing a graduate degree in urban forestry.
