2005 Conflux goes to Providence

In the spirit of psychogeographic adventure, we're drifting north this year to collaborate with our friends in Providence who are holding their second annual "Provflux." Partly inspired by the Conflux, this is a similar weekend-long event bringing together psychogeographers from around the world. The dates are May 13-15 27 - 29, and we encourage you to get involved. For questions about participating, please contact John J McGurk: alobswitt [at] gmail.com The Glowlab crew will be there to present projects and events -- see you in May!

Human Chess game reminder

Just a reminder: the Human Scale Chess game location has changed from Times Square to Williamsburg. The L train is not running this weekend, but that's ok because you can walk to the chess game -- it's just over the Williamsburg Bridge from the CONFLUX headquarters at 95 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side. The game will take place Sunday at noon; here are the details and directions.

Wanna be a chess piece?

This year's Human-Scale Chess game has changed locations! Instead of battling with the tourists in Times Square, chess players can now plan to enjoy a relaxed afternoon on the southside of Williamsburg, just over the Williamsburg Bridge from PARTICIPANT INC [Conflux headquarters].

We are seeking twenty additional able-bodied humans to play the roles of chess pieces in the game, which will take place Sunday, May 16 at noon. To participate, you need a mobile phone. The game will last approximately three hours and everyone who plays a role will recieve a souvenir t-shirt and cold beverages.

To learn more about the project, check out: http://humanchess.typepad.com/project

If you'd like to play, get in touch!

Conflux volunteers

The Conflux will be taking place in just over a month on the Lower East Side of NYC. We're extremely excited about the great lineup of artists and speakers that will be participating this year. See the press release for additional event info.

We're currently gathering volunteers to help out during the Conflux. Specifically, we're in need of the following:

- Tech people who can help set up, babysit, and trouble-shoot computer equipment, video equipment, slide projectors, and/or internet connections

- Documentation people to shoot photos and/or video all weekend

- Gallery sitters, general helpers

If you can help, please get in touch.

Thanks for all your support and interest, and we hope to see you at PARTICIPANT INC in May!
